Lakers' Steve Blake has injured elbow

Steve Blake has been really good this season. He is averaging 10 points, 7.7 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game, and he is shooting a blistering 43% from beyond the arc. He has been the guy who gets the offense going for Mike D’Antoni and the Lakers, and it’s been working.

The Lakers are 9-9 on the season thus far, and Steve Blake has a lot to do with their decent start. Jordan Farmar is now out for four weeks, so Blake’s play will now be even more important.

Well, more bad news for the Lakers–Steve Blake is injured as well. He has a hyper-extended elbow, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times. It isn’t known whether he will miss any time or not, but they are down to Blake as far as point guards, and if he isn’t at full strength, things could get ugly for this offense. The Lakers need a ball handler who can start the ball movement and get the pace going, and Blake has done well in that department this season.

He may play through this due to the circumstances, but this is just something to watch.
