Alex Burrows is having a season to forget for the Vancouver Canucks, and it appears the things have taken a turn for the worse as it’s being reported that the forward has a broken jaw. He was struck by a clearing attempt during Vancouver’s 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
Fast forward to the 1:39 mark for the relevant play as Chris Tanev tries to dump the puck out of the defensive zone during a penalty kill.
While Burrows was glad that he avoided a truly devastating injury on the play and it was originally reported that he would be OK after taking the puck to the face, contrary news has been revealed.
The Moj got it right. Burrows busted his jaw in Carolina. #canucks hoping out “indefinitely” is closer to one month.

Another tough break for a guy that just can’t seem to get it going this season. The broken jaw required surgery, but Burrows is reportedly feeling fine after the procedure.
Corbiel says Burrows texted him and said surgery went well and he feels fine.

The Canucks were already kicking tires around the league for a depth forward, and this injury could force their hand a bit sooner than expected.
