The USC Trojans hired Washington head coach, and former assistant, Steve Sarkisian on Monday to fill their permanent head coaching slot, which was vacated with the firing of Lane Kiffin earlier this year. After Kiffin was fired, Ed Orgeron took over on an interim basis and performed a bit above average, leading some to believe that athletic director Pat Haden may just give the job to him.
In the end that was not the case, and Orgeron handed in his resignation on Monday, not long after Sarkisian had accepted the position.
So, that left the question of who would coach the Trojans in their upcoming bowl game, a question that AD Haden answered today at the Sarkisian introductory press conference:
USC AD Pat Haden confirms that Clay Helton will take over as head coach for the bowl game.

This season was Helton’s first as offensive coordinator and his fourth at USC, where he has coached the quarterbacks as well.
