It would appear that there has been some new movement in the casting for the upcoming DC film Batman vs. Superman. According to Variety, actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in the superhero epic.
Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder told Variety that she is an amazing actress, and looks forward to the audience discovering what she can bring to the part.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” Snyder said.
There have been rumors circulating for quite some time that there would be appearances by certain members of the Justice League, but there has never been any official word on who may be appearing or in what capacity those appearances would be.
Gadot is most well known for her role as Gisele in the Fast & Furious franchise.
The actress will be joining Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck who have already been cast as Superman and Batman respectively.
What do you think of the casting? Do you think she will fit the bill of such an iconic character being brought to the big screen?
Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2015.
