The Collegiate Running Association announced on Wednesday that the inaugural CRA 10K Road Race National Championship will be held on March 29 of 2014. The event will be hosted by the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K. $10,000 in prize money will be awarded, with $2,000 going to the top male and female runners.
Steve Taylor, CRA founder, spoke about his hopes for the event:
Our hope is that both social and elite college runners will want to compete in the Collegiate Running Association 10K Road Race National Championship. Ideally, social running clubs will point to our championship events as their destination races, where they can participate in a huge community event and celebrate after, while the elite athletes can come in order to determine the only true national champions in all of collegiate sports and also earn prize money in the process (RunningUSA.org).
In case you missed our earlier article, the CRA is an organization that aims to legally award collegiate runners prize money.
(But won’t somebody please think of the amateurism?!)
