Evgeni Malkin runs point streak to nine, might be a robot for Pittsburgh Penguins

So the part about Evgeni Malkin being a robot is just speculation on our part, but would you be surprised if the Pittsburgh Penguins revealed that he was? After scoring 25 points in 15 contests during the month of November, “Geno” has kept right on going in December.

The indomitable phenom has rocketed up the individual scoring leader charts, and now trails only Sidney Crosby in overall points. It seems like it’s been a while since the Penguins had both Crosby and Malkin going at this level, and the team continues to roll despite missing a good chunk of its blue line,

Malkin now has points in nine consecutive games, and has posted four goals and 15 assists in that time span. The last time he was held off the score sheet was on November 16 against the New Jersey Devils. Prior to that goose egg, Malkin had a six-game scoring streak. There’s no reason to believe that he’ll be slowing down any time soon either.

“Geno” has been an assist machine so far this year despite centering what has mostly been a helicopter line due to injuries. James Neal has been back since November 9 though, and it’s no coincidence that Malkin has only been held without a point once since then.

At their current rates, Crosby will score 107 points on the season. Malkin will score 105. If this happens, can anyone truly hope to stop the Penguins once their defense isn’t in shambles?
