LeBron James is being called the Michael Jordan of this current era of NBA basketball, but while he’s an MVP, a NBA Champion and the best player in the game, he’s not truly on Jordan’s level until he becomes a movie star. That’s something King James is about to add to his resume as Variety reports James will be co-starring in a movie called Ballers with comedian Kevin Hart.
Universal will be distributing the film that will pit the real life best friends on-screen with one another in what could end up being the most awkward on-screen duo we’ve seen yet.
Now this isn’t going to be the buddy-cop movie we’re all dreaming of, nor will it be Space Jam 2. Rather, the plot of the film will revolve around Kevin Hart’s character who is the brother of an NBA superstar and gets a chance to prove himself at a fantasy basketball camp. James will be playing the NBA superstar brother, which explains why he’s doing character research by actually being an NBA superstar.
James has been drifting more and more towards the world of entertainment as he just recently locked down a deal with Showtime to produce comedy shows and is now joining Hart in this movie. He’s also not the only Miami Heat star getting into entertainment as Dwyane Wade sold a half-hour comedy to FOX based on his life.
So if you weren’t sick enough of seeing the Miami Heat plastered all over the place, they’re now invading primetime sitcoms and movie theaters. No word on when anyone will throw Chris Bosh a bone for a part in a movie — maybe Jurassic World.
