I’ve never given it much thought, but what exactly is a ‘River Cat’? One would assume it’s a cat that lives by a river, but, does such a thing even exist? And if so, are they terrifying? Or would they just prefer you to throw a ball of yarn their way?
It’s a question that the Reno Aces, a minor league baseball team in Nevada, wondered as well. They of course are the AAA-affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the River Cats, who are based out of Sacramento, are the AAA-affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.
Both teams play in the famed Pacific Coast League, though, clearly one has the upper hand in social media burns.
Attempting to mock the River Cats, the Aces Twitter account posted the following message, which the River Cats had quite the appropriate answer for:
.@aces River Cats are aquatically inclined felines with extremely flexible necks, developed from looking down at Reno in the standings.

Somebody better run down to their local drugstore and pick up some Coppertone lotion, because they just got burned in a really bad way.
