Omer Asik is still playing for the Rockets, whether he wants to or not. His role is very limited at 18 minutes per game, and he wants to be a starter somewhere.

Asik has requested a trade, and the Rockets reportedly want two first round picks in return, but they aren’t getting that. Well, we may have to wait to see if Asik will be moved, as he is out for at least a week with a thigh injury, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.

This isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things,  but if this is a lingering injury, then Daryl Morey may have a hard time trading him. Morey is one of the smartest GMs in the league, and I have no doubt that he is working some deal that will greatly improve the team. Dwight Howard will play close to 40 minutes, so this won’t have much of an effect, but they will need to find some rim protection from someone else while Howard’s on the bench.
