SEC on CBS ratings for 2013 up 24% from 2012

After a disappointing 2012 during which ratings dropped to the lowest they’d been in four years, the SEC on CBS rebounded in 2013. In fact, thanks to some competitive games and high-profile stars like Johnny Manziel, CBS saw ratings for regular-season games jump up by 24 percent.

The network averaged a rating of 4.2 for the games they broadcasted.

The article cites increased competitiveness as a major factor. The average margin of victory in SEC games televised on CBS in 2012 was 19.8 points. That average fell to 10.3 in 2013, with nine of the game broadcast on the network decided by seven points or less.
