No. 8 Wisconsin beats Virginia in low scoring game

The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 48-38 at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.  The Badgers remain undefeated at 9-0, and the Cavaliers fell to 7-2.

Scoring 48 points for an AP Top 25 team is unacceptable, but it was good enough for Wisconsin in a low-scoring contest against Virginia.  The Badgers made 15 of 52 shots from the field (28.8%), and the Cavaliers made 11 of 47 (23.4%).  Somehow, Virginia managed to make 15 of 19 free throws while Wisconsin made 13 of 20.  The free throw line was truly a charity stripe in Charlottesville.  The only good news was the rebounding stats looked pretty good.  Wisconsin finished with 40 boards, and Virginia grabbed 34.

Badgers Junior guard Josh Gasser led all scorers with 11 points.  Junior forward Frank Kaminsky scored nine points with 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.  Guards Ben Brust and Traevon Jackson each scored eight points with Burst grabbing 8 boards, and Jackson dishing out four dimes.

Freshman guard London Perrantes led the Cavaliers with eight points.  Guards Justin Anderson and Malcolm Brogdon both had seven rebounds.  Senior guard Joe Harris made up for a rough night shooting (1 of 10 FG) with four assists and two steals.

Wisconsin will be back in action against the Marquette Golden Eagles (5-3) on December 7th at 2:15 pm ET on the Big Ten Network.  Virginia will play at Green Bay (4-2) on December 7th at 5 pm ET on ESPNU.
