‘Bourne 5’ Set for a 2015 Release Date

It would seem that there is will be no shortage of blockbuster movies in 2015. This week, Universal Pictures added a new name to that list when they announced that the newest installation in the Bourne franchise will be released on August 14, 2015.

The film is being directed by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin. Screenwriter Anthony Peckham, who has also directed films like Sherlock Holmes and Invictus, will be writing the screenplay for the upcoming Bourne sequel.

Right now, the only cast member linked to the film is Jeremy Renner who will be returning to his role of Aaron Cross from The Bourne Legacy.

As I said before, 2015 is definitely going to be jam packed with blockbuster movies. Almost every month will see the release of at least one sure fire hit.

In February, Universal and Focus Features will be releasing Fifty Shades of Grey. March will see the release of Paramount Pictures’ newest version of Friday the 13th. April 3rd we will see the release of the latest chapter in the Insidious saga entitled Insidious: Chapter 3.

The year will also see the release of Marvel’s next chapter in the Avengers saga entitled Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, and the final chapter in The Hunger Games saga, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Speaking of Avengers, my biggest question here is whether or not his participation in this film will alter or hinder Jeremy Renner’s filming schedule for Avengers: Age of Ultron? I can’t fathom him disassociating from either project, but he will certainly be busy over the course of the next year and a half.

At this point, the new Bourne film does not share their date with any other film; however, there is a lot of time in between now and then for that to change. Just ask the Warcraft movie.

So far, the Bourne franchise has earned a total of $638.6 million in the U.S. Worldwide, the film franchise has garnered a total of $1.2 billion.

With numbers like those, there is no denying the franchise’s earning power, and thus a very good reason to move forward with a new film.

The currently untitled Bourne 5 is scheduled to be released on August 14, 2015.
