Chicago Blackhawks travel to Minnesota without Andrew Shaw

When the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Minnesota Wild take on the Minnesota Wild tonight, Andrew Shaw won’t be in the lineup. This comes after the forward took a hard hit in the final moments of Tuesday’s contest with the Dallas Stars. Shaw has been playing quite well as of late and has five points in his last five games.

With Shaw out for now and Michal Handzus on the shelf with an illness, the ‘Hawks recalled Jeremy Morin and Joakim Nordstrom from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. Both players have spent time in the NHL with Chicago this season, and both bring a very particular skill set to the ice on a nightly basis.

Morin has been a highly thought of youngster in the organization for a while now, and is known for his ability to crash the net and create opportunities with his aggressive style. This will be his third stint with the ‘Hawks so far this season.

Meanwhile, Nordstrom is a penalty killing specialist and brings a much-needed element to the table for Chicago. He can provide a dash of depth scoring, but he’s been recalled because of his defensive capabilities.
