The Dallas Stars have been getting strong performances from forward Ryan Garbutt lately. His forward momentum may come to a screeching hault tonight when the Stars take on the Toronto Maple Leafs though, as it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to play after blocking a shot against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.

Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reported that Garbutt “received treatment” for the lower-body injury yesterday, and will be a game-time decision before the game against Toronto.
He’s been held off the ice this morning, which further muddies his prospects of lacing up the skates against the Leafs this evening.

The fourth-liner started off the season with a bit of a rough patch that included a five-game suspension for hitting Dustin Penner of the Anaheim Ducks in the head. Lindy Ruff had little patience for Garbutt’s bad penalties once the forward returned, and told him to clean up his game or get off the ice.
Garbutt has answered the call recently, posting five points in his last four contests. Now he may have to wait before continuing his resurgence.
