Before the press conference is even scheduled to begin, ESPN has confirmed that Florida State QB Jameis Winston will not be charged in the sexual assault investigation that has clouded him for the past several weeks:

ESPN confirmed this from Tallahassee’s Jeff Cameron, who hosts a daily show on their 97.9 affialiate based around Florida State athletics. Cameron had been informed through sources that this will be the decision announced during the news conference scheduled for 2 PM ET:

The source, speaking to Cameron on the condition of anonymity, informed Cameron “the decision is final” and that Meggs will read a statement severing any connection between Winston and the investigation. Cameron describes his source as a “public relations professional… asked to advise on the written statement” and that the source has “done so for weeks now.”

Now, with this news, Winston will not be arrested and he will be able to continue on with the season, as he’ll now travel with the team to Charlotte to take part in this Saturday’s ACC Championship Game.
