ESPN’s resident loudmouth and NBA analyst, Stephen A. Smith, likely won’t be receiving a Christmas card from Carmelo Anthony this year.

The New York Knicks forward, who will be a free agent at season end, recently came out and questioned the sources of Smith who said Carmelo will leave the Knicks at season end and join forces with Kobe Bryant and become a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s a story Smith has been running with for months, though recently re-hashed the idea which sparked Melo to say nobody knows his future plans – likely not even himself:

Melo shot down premise he’s already decided to leave NY. Said he’s not sure who Stephen A.’s sources are, but it didn’t come from him. Melo said he doesn’t talk to those close to him about his future plans: “Anybody in my crew, anybody on my team, family nobody.”

It’s a bit difficult to just throw away Smith’s sources as he has plenty of connections, especially in the New York area, though it’s not as if he has a sparkling record either in regards to his ‘rumors’.
