On the field, former New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was as stoic and down to business as one could be.

But when not on the mound, Rivera was a fun-loving, joking teammate that players loved. And with good reason, considering how funny Rivera is.

The recently retired closer took part in Dick’s Sporting Goods ‘Gift Locker’ promotion and was asked what he’d get his former teammates.

Most would have given typical, boring answers but not Rivera who reached back for some witty and hilarious responses.

Asked what he’d get Derek Jeter, Rivera responded ‘a doll, so he’d have a wife’. And I don’t think he was talking about a Barbie…

What about Robinson Cano? A piece of paper, so he could sign a contract. How about manager, Joe Girardi? A bottle of hair dye. And for former longtime teammate, Bernie Williams? A better guitar.

Ah, we’re going to miss you, Mo. Enjoy your retirement and here’s to seeing that wit being used towards an analyst job in the future.
