The Minnesota Twins have made the decision to move former MVP Joe Mauer from catcher to first base after suffering a concussion.
First base will be Joe’s primary position for as long as he’s a Minnesota Twin. So that means the team needs to start working on the depth behind the plate.
The starting job will be handed to Josmil Pinto as the Twins could be looking at John Buck as a possible back up according to Mike Puma.
Sounds like the Twins have interest in former Mets catcher John Buck.

Buck batted .222/.288/.365 with 15 home runs and 62 RBI’s between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates. The 33 year old catcher was a part of the trade that sent Marlon Byrd to the Pirates for Dilson Herrera and Vic Black.
He backed up Russell Martin while in Pittsburgh.
Josmil Pinto is a 24 year old rookie who played in 21 games for the Twins this season and hit four home runs and 12 RBI’s with a batting line of .342/.398/.566. He fielded .983 with 112 put outs and throwing out five runners attempting to steal.
