Daniel Cormier’s Light Heavyweight debut has been set, and it is a doozy. At UFC 170, Cormier will fight against former Light Heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans in the main event of the evening. For Rashad, this will be the second fight in a row in which he will be fighting a Fox Sports 1 co-host and a friend.

Ariel Helwani tweeted the news:

He followed that up with Rashad’s comments about the fight:

This final tweet details the bout:

This fight is huge for both men as they are just on the brink of a title shot. With the division being relatively weak with contenders, a big win by either man will put them right at the top of the ladder.

Whoever wins this fight will likely have to fight once more before getting a title shot, however. Alexander Gustafsson will most definitely get his rematch against Jones if he defeats Jimi Manuwa in March. If Manuwa wins that fight, it is highly probable that the winner of the Rashad Evans vs Daniel Cormier fight will get the next shot.

Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira fight for the title at UFC 171, about three weeks after UFC 170.
