Report: Miami Heat shopping Joel Anthony

The Miami Heat are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the NBA and they will be seeking a third straight NBA championship, but first they appear to be searching for depth in the back court as they look to add some guards behind Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen.

With plenty of talented big men on the roster, the door is open for a trade and reports indicate Miami could be looking to trade away center Joel Anthony in exchange for some guard help.

From Brian Windhorst at ESPN:

The Heat (14-5) have a glut of big men and have been looking into trading one for a guard, or to clear a roster spot so they can sign a player later. Center-forward Joel, who has played in just five games this season, is one of the players who may be available.

It won’t be a home run if the Heat pull off a trade, but any bodies they can add to the back court will be a plus.

After letting Mike Miller go with the amnesty clause over the summer, the team desperately needs to add depth so they can stay healthy for the duration of the long season ahead.
