For weeks, the Los Angeles Dodgers and representatives from Hanely Ramriez’s camp have been working on a potential contract extension.

The two sides started off relatively far apart but it seems that the gap has been closed in recent days and speculation is that a deal could be imminent, especially after Ramirez posted the following on his Instagram account Friday, including a picture of him on an airplane:

To Los Angeles…. Good news!!!!

It’s been reported a potential deal could fetch upwards of $100 million dollars over the course of six seasons.

It’s a hefty sum for any player, let alone one with the injury history (along with questionable attitude) of Ramirez though the former Miami Marlin can put up MVP numbers when healthy and focused, a focus he’s been able to keep (for the most part) during his short tenure in Los Angeles.

Ramirez clubbed 20 home runs last season in just 86 games, hitting an impressive .345 in the process, though struggled in the latter part of the postseason as he dealt with injury.

Update: Ramirez says he was ‘only joking’ with the picture.
