The annual Bedlam Game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys went to a whole other level today in Stillwater.
In a game like this, such an intense rivalry, every play counts, especially when there’s conference championship implications on the line, like there are for the Pokes.
Because they’re trying to clinch at least that share of the Big 12 title, Oklahoma State knows that they’re going to have everything thrown their way this afternoon, and that’s not just from the rival Sooners–it’s from Mother Nature as well.
During the second quarter, Oklahoma State lined up for a 41-yard field goal attempt that would give them a 10-7 lead.
Kicker Ben Grogan did knock that one through, having to battle both the Oklahoma block attempt, and an earthquake.
Yes, an earthquake:

Now, the image is a little exaggerated, but still the fact alone is impressive.
For as much flack as we give college kickers on a regular basis, I think that this exempts Grogan from any sort of backlash for the rest of his career.
And if you still can’t believe it, yes there was really an earthquake in the area:
JUST IN: Prelim. 4.5 earthquake, 8km NW of Jones, Oklahoma. Dec 7 12:10 at epicenter, depth 9.2km
