The Oklahoma Sooners hold a narrow lead over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday afternoon, but the Sooners almost had — and likely should have — a crucial penalty that would have set them back after a big play.
While a referee was chasing the play down the sidelines, an Oklahoma player was standing on the white stripe and ultimately interfered with the official.
In a move that would have made Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin proud, the Sooners player stood his ground and the referee crashed in to him at full speed before tumbling to the ground. A flag was immediately thrown for sideline interference, but the refs decided to wave it off.
Oklahoma failed to do anything with their field position, but they were able to keep their field position and pin Oklahoma State deep with a punt.
Here is a GIF of the sideline collision:
To be fair to the Oklahoma player, he did make an attempt to get out of the way of the official, but it was too little, too late.
