According to the Associated Press,
Rice clinched its first outright conference title since 1957, running over Marshall 41-24 in the Conference USA Championship Game Saturday.
It was an impressive victory for the Owls, as they had a total 459 yards on offense, with 250 of those yards coming from the ground game.
Charles Ross rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, upping his season total to 14 and matching the program single-season mark set by Trevor Cobb in 1991. Turner passed for two touchdowns, doubling his career total.”
Marshall has been known around the league to be offensive monsters this season, however hat wasn’t the case today. The Thundering Herd was held to just 265 yards in the air by quarterback Rakeem Cato. Their ground game wasn’t very powerful either, rushing for a combined 107 yards with six different rushers.
With the win, Rice moved to 9-3 on the season, and claimed the C-USA title.
