Hyundai Sun Bowl 2013: UCLA vs. Virginia Tech

The UCLA Bruins and Virginia Tech Hokies will do battle in the 2013 Sun Bowl.

Both teams entered the season with high hopes and both have to be disappointed with the way their seasons turned out. The Bruins were 5-0 and had a comeback road victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers when they traveled to Oregon to take on the Stanford Cardinal. The Cardinal shut down the Bruins and won 24-10. A week later, the Bruins were blown out 42-14 by the Oregon Ducks. A 38-33 loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils ended any chance at the Pac 12 championship, but the Bruins ended the season with a 35-14 victory over the rival USC Trojans to finish 9-3.

The Hokies went 8-4. A loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide to open the season is understandable, but they also dropped games against the Duke Blue Devils, Boston College Eagles and Maryland Terrapins. The Virginia Tech offense was brutal throughout the season, but they do have a stout defense that can keep them in almost any game.
