After defeating the Missouri Tigers in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, all that needed to happen for the Auburn Tigers to get themselves a trip to the national championship game was for the Ohio State Buckeyes to falter for the first time in over 20 games against the Michigan State Spartans.
Well, that did happen and from that moment on, everyone knew that Auburn would be headed to Pasadena to play the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles for the coveted crystal ball, completing a miraculous turnaround from what was a 3-9 season last year.
Still, though, the fact remained that it wasn’t official until the announcement was made Sunday night on the BCS Selection Show that Auburn was indeed the definitive number two team in the country.
As usual with teams in the hunt for any BCS game really, the team gathered together to watch the announcement live as it unfolded.
And as we all expected, the Tigers did take over the second spot in the BCS standings, sending them to Pasadena.
