BBVA Compass Bowl 2014: Houston vs Vanderbilt

For an American Conference team, they can get the opportunity to play an SEC school in the BBVA Compass Bowl. The Bowl is played on January 4th, in Birmingham, Alabama. It is the heart of SEC country and probably will be crowded with SEC fans.

Last year the Ole Miss Rebels played the Pittsburgh Panthers in the game. The Rebels went on to win 38-17 and add another trophy to their collection.

The BBVA Compass Bowl kicks off at 1 p.m. ET from Legion Field in Birmingham on ESPN. It is the only college football bowl game on the day and one of the final three of the season.

This year the Houston Cougars will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Houston will get $900,000 for the game while Vanderbilt with get a $1 million payout.
