Bruins' Chris Kelly suffered broken ankle

It has been announced today that Boston Bruins center Chris Kelly sustained a broken ankle in the B’s 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. From ESPN,

The injury occurred when Kelly was slashed by the Penguins’ Pascal Dupuis. Kelly did not travel with the team to Toronto for their Sunday night game against the Maple Leafs.

Kelly, who has played well this season as the team’s third-line center, missed 14 games late last season (March 12 to April 6) with a broken tibia.

Overall, he has three goals and four assists for seven points, while posting a minus-1 rating in 29 games TSN’s Darren Dreger first reported the news.

Saturday’s game was full of injuries, including Bruins forward Loui Eriksson, who suffered his second concussion in five weeks.

These injuries will obviously affect the team, who is currently 19-8-2 on the season, and holds the second seed in the Atlantic Division.
