Boise State to interview Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter

For the first time in a very long time, the Boise State Broncos are in search of a head coach for their football program, following the departure of Chris Petersen to Washington a few days ago.

Reportedly, one of the candidates that they will interview for the open slot will be Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator, Dirk Koetter .

This would be a pretty familiar move for the school to make, seeing as Koetter was the head coach of the Broncos from 1998-2000. Following that first stint at Boise, Koetter then went on to become the head coach at Arizona State where he collected a 40-34 record and made four bowl appearances.

He’s spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Falcons. However, this season the Falcons haven’t performed up to their standards as of late, leading many to believe that an overhaul of the coaching staff may be coming shortly.

According to the report, Koetter’s interview will take place on Monday over the phone because of travel issues, and a decision could be made shortly thereafter.
