A week after Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon set an NFL mark as the first ever player to have back to back 200+ yard receiving games, the phenomenal receiver set another record. Not only did he break the franchise mark for receiving yards for an entire season with 1,400 yards in just 11 games, but he set an NFL record with 774 receiving yards in a four game stretch.
Starting with a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Gordon had 5 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown, 14 catches for 237 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 10 catches for 261 yards for 2 touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars and 7 catches for 151 yards against the New England Patriots Sunday.
Two things stand out in Gordon’s impressive streak. He had receptions of 74 yards, 47 yards, 95 yards and 80 yards during the streak where he was able to showcase his speed. The other notable aspect of the streak is that in spite of the incredible production, the Browns are 0-4. The last two games ended in brutal fashion for the Browns as they were both lost on the second to last drive of the game, with both the Jaguars and Patriots coming from behind to win. Nevertheless, the achievements of Gordon, just a second year player and 22 years old. Provided he can stay on the field, he has the potential to be a hall of fame level receiver.
