Although he only threw 27 innings for the Atlanta Braves in 2013, Freddy Garcia made enough of an impression on the front office that they reportedly want him back.
Garcia, 37, was relatively woeful during his stop in Baltimore earlier in 2013, posting a 5.77 ERA through 53 innings but the comfy confines of the National League helped Garcia improve greatly as he only gave up five earned runs in three starts (five games total) for the Braves who are interested in bringing him back:
#braves have shown interest in a return for freddy garcia. Nothing set yet tho.
Atlanta has already lost one veteran in Tim Hudson, who signed with the San Francisco Giants, though Garcia should come relatively cheap unlike Hudson who signed for $22 million over two years.
It’s been a struggle for Garcia the past few years, though Atlanta could certainly do worse in regards to a back-end starter.
However, as Heyman points out, there’s been no word of any contract at this point.
