MLB rumors: Texas Rangers view Elvis Andrus trade as ‘longshot’

It came as a bit of a shock earlier this offseason when rumors leaked suggesting the Texas Rangers were open to trading infielder, Elvis Andrus. Of course, with Jurickson Profar ready for his everyday role, space needed to be created but at the expense of the Ranger starting shortstop? Seemed as if there would be another way around trading Andrus and there was – shipping Ian Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Prince Fielder.

That said, the Rangers aren’t completely sold on keeping Andrus as FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal says the team will consider moving him, but internally view doing so as a longshot considering they’d be asking top price for their infielder:

Sources: #Rangers willing to move Andrus even after trading Kinsler, but only for big return. Would go Profar at SS, Odor at 2B. BUT…Trade of Andrus by #Rangers viewed internally as very much a longshot. Club has not discussed him with other teams since Fielder trade.
