No. 20 Gonzaga at West Virginia, game preview

The Gonzaga Bulldogs take on the West Virginia Mountaineers at WVU Coliseum at 9 pm ET.  The game will be aired on ESPN2.

Gonzaga has tremendous offensive capabilities.  The Bulldogs are fifth in scoring, averaging 90.4 points per game, and first in field goal percentage, making 54.9% of their shots.  Sharpshooting junior guard Kevin Pangos leads the way hitting 50% from downtown, and averaging 19.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per contest.  Senior center Sam Dower is the second scoring option, averaging 15.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.  Senior guard David Stockton facilitates the offense with 4.9 assists per game.

Despite being 6-3 and unranked, West Virginia is an excellent basketball team. The Mountaineers have lost to No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 24 Missouri, both undefeated teams.  WVU is led by two sensational guards.  Sophomore Eron Harris is averaging 18.9 points per game, including hitting 51% from beyond the arc. Junior Juwan Staten is averaging 16.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game.  Staten and Harris may be too much for Gonzaga to handle.

I love a great guard matchup, and I believe this game will be exciting to the finish. Don’t forget to flip on ESPN2 if the Kentucky game on ESPN fails to live up to the hype.
