The Arizona Diamondbacks are obviously looking to add some beef to the middle of their lineup.
After unsuccessfully attempting to trade for Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland Athletics, the D’Backs front office has turned their attention to Shin-Soo Choo and Mark Trumbo and are ‘determined’ to leave the Winter Meetings with one of them on their roster:
Choo is certainly the better all-around player, though, the price tag is extremely high which could make the Diamondback’s balk. Meanwhile, Trumbo, unlike Choo is not a free agent and would take a trade to nab.
The Anaheim Angels are in the market for MLB ready pitching, something the Diamondbacks do have so the trade pieces seem to lineup on the surface. Of course, Trumbo plays the same position as MVP candidate, Paul Goldschmidt, so one of the two would need to move to the outfield if such a move was made.
Either way, it looks as if there will be some new thump in the Diamondbacks’ order this season.
