The Notre Dame Fighting Irish learned on Sunday that they will be facing off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the 2013 Pinstripe Bowl during bowl season, but the team will be without one of their starting offensive linemen for the game.
While speaking to the media about the upcoming match up, Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly said that senior guard Chris Watt will be unable to play in the game due to an MCL injury.
“Watt is out. He’s not going to need surgery, but he’s not going to be able to play in the bowl game with the MCL,” Kelly told the media. “It’s a two, three on a grade. It’s going to require immobilization. He’s immobilized right now. He won’t be able to play.”
Kelly said that the rest of the players on the team should be good to go against the Scarlet Knights, but losing Watt will be a big loss.
The 2013 Pinstripe Bowl will be held on December 28 at Yankee Stadium.
