Rice Owls video accepting Liberty Bowl invitation

The Rice Owls won Conference USA this year after a 10-3 season, including a 7-1 conference record topped off by beating Marshall in the conference championship, 41-24.  After the game, the representative from the Autozone Liberty Bowl extending their invitation to the team and head coach David Bailiff.  Here is the video of how that went down:

The Owls will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on New Year’s Eve at 4pm Eastern in Memphis at Memorial Stadium.  Both teams played Texas A&M this season; Rice took them on in the first game of the season and lost 52-31 while Mississippi State lost to them 51-41.  So while the 10-3 record is significantly better than the 6-6 Bulldogs record from this year, it could make for a good pairing.  This was Rice’s first undisputed conference title since 1957.  The Liberty Bowl has been in existence since 1959.  Needless to say, this has been a long time company for the Owls and the Houston faithful.
