White Sox, Diamondbacks, Angels near completion of three-team trade

The Anaheim Angels and Arizona Diamondbacks have been in trade discussions for at least a few days now, but it appears a third team was needed to help speed the potential trade up.

Now according to Jon Paul Morosi, the proposed deal is nearing completion:

Hector Santiago is involved in 3-way White Sox, Angels, DBacks deal, source confirms. Trade is close to being finalized.

While names are still likely to be added (most likely minor league prospects), the deal breaks down like this:

  • White Sox would acquire OF Adam Eaton and P Tyler Skaggs from the Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Angels would acquire P Hector Santiago from the White Sox
  • Diamondbacks would acquire 1B Mark Trumbo from Angels

As stated, there could very likely be small additional pieces added to the trade and the deal has yet to be finalized, though barring a last minute breakdown it appears the deal will likely go through.

It was reported Tuesday morning Arizona did not want to leave the Winter Meetings without either Mark Trumbo or Shin-Soo Choo, so it appears they will acquire their much desired power while the Angels secure much needed pitching and the White Sox bring in talented youth.
