The Texas Tech Red Raiders started off 2013 hot by going 7-0 to start the year, but they had a miserable 0-5 finish to the season after facing their toughest opponents. True freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield looked promising in the early part of the season, but he began to stumble and now it looks like he may not be around next year to help continue the turnaround.
According to reports, the “word on the street” is that Mayfield is considering a transfer from Texas Tech.
While nothing is official, Chris Level of Rivals.com said that the buzz is building in that direction.
He responded to a question on Twitter by saying:

If Mayfield decides to transfer, Davis Webb could be the favorite to be the team’s 2014 starting quarterback in a crowded race.
Last season, Mayfield threw for 2315 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games. Webb threw for 2315 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his nine appearances in 2013.
