Hayward Field to host NCAA Track & Field Championships through 2021

According to a release from GoDucks.com today, the University of Oregon will host the NCAA Track and Field Championships through 2021. The meets will, of course, be conducted at the legendary Hayward Field.

The university has hosted the championships eleven times, most recently in 2010 and 2013. They are already scheduled to host the event in 2014.

Sam Seemes, CEO of the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, said the experience in Eugene is unlike any other:

Student-athletes, coaches and fans of collegiate sport thrive when venues deliver an outstanding championship atmosphere. As hosts, Oregon has consistently proven to have the commitment and execution necessary to bring our sport to life, providing experiences that are currently one-of-a-kind. Enhancing our sports’ championships are a top priority as it builds a foundation that adds value to all competitions and serves a direct line in contributing to an exciting future for all stakeholders.

Hayward Field will also host the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, the 2015 USA Championships, and the 2016 Olympic Trials.
