It is time to swing open the doors to the Asylum and get committed all over again. The second season of the eerie hit television series American Horror Story entitled Asylum is not available to stream on Netflix.
Since American Horror Story: Coven is on its Winter Break until January 8th, now is the perfect time to revisit Briarcliff. If you have never seen the second season, or if for some unknown reason you have never seen Asylum, it’s time to get cracking.
American Horror Story: Asylum takes place, for the most part, at the Briarcliff Mental Institution in Massachusetts in the year 1964. The story surrounds the patients, doctors, and nuns that reside in the Asylum and the unbelievable and unspeakable acts that take place behind closed doors.
Sister Jude, played by series staple Jessica Lange, manages the Asylum with the assistance of Sister Mary Eunice, played by Lily Rabe, who also portrays Misty Day in Coven.
The “care,” if you want to call it that, of the patients is overseen by Dr. Arthur Arden, played by James Cromwell, and psychiatrist Dr. Oliver Thredson, played by Zachary Quinto.
The walls of Briarcliff hold many secrets, including the existence of a monster capable of just about anything. When the prisoners, who feel that they have been institutionalized unjustly, decide that it is time to do something about it, chaos ensues.
You don’t need to watch Asylum in order to understand what is going on in Coven as no two seasons of American Horror Story are truly linked together; however, why would you want to miss out on something so epic?
