MLB Trade Rumors: Rickie Weeks not being traded to the Miami Marlins

Aug 6, 2013; San Francisco, CA, USA; Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks (23) strikes out against the San Francisco Giants during the first inning at AT

The Miami Marlins are on a mission to bulk up their infield with the additions of Rafael Furcal and Garrett Jones.

They’ve taken a look at guys like veteran Mark Ellis and even Yuniesky Betancourt. Now they’re currently involved in a trade rumor that happens to surround Betancourt’s former teammate in Milwaukee, Rickie Weeks.

Weeks is currently under contract with the Milwaukee Brewers until 2015 as he picked up some trade interest during the 2013 regular season. Now Weeks missed the last half of the regular season because of an injury he sustained while running out a ground ball.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Brewers traded Weeks at some point. But according to Tom Baudricourt on Twitter, the Milwaukee Brewers say there’s nothing happening between Rickie Weeks and the Miami Marlins.

Just because a team says there’s nothing going on right now, doesn’t mean nothing will come out of this later on. Either way, I think Rickie Weeks gets traded sometime this season and Miami may be the destination.
