The San Diego Chargers need a big win over the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football in order to keep their playoff hopes alive and they have put together an impressive start to the game. After two big first-half touchdowns from rookie wide receiver Keenan Allen, the Chargers jumped out to a 17-10 halftime lead and they are continuing to pile on the points.
In the third quarter, running back Ryan Mathews showed a flash of his talent as he scampered off the left edge of the line and turned the corner.
After getting past an arm tackle from Broncos star linebacker Von Miller, Mathews was able to use his vision and find the openings down the sideline as he scampered in to the endzone. The score gave San Diego a 24-10 lead in the third quarter and control over the game.
If San Diego can hang on, they will prove they are a legit Wild Card contender and help the Kansas City Chiefs position themselves to rejoin the Broncos atop the AFC West.
