The TCU Horned Frogs announced on Thursday that Doug Meacham will be the team’s offensive coordinator in 2014.

Meacham spent the last year as the offensive coordinator for the Houston Cougars. Under Meacham’s leadership, the Cougars average nearly 34 points per game in 2013. Before coaching at Houston, Meacham spent eight years as the tight ends/inside receivers coach at Oklahoma State.

SB Nation’s Frogs o’ War has an official statement from head coach Gary Patterson:

Our goal is to remain a physical football team. Coach Meacham was part of an Oklahoma State system that was highly successful throwing the football, and he continued that in his one year at Houston.

I’m real excited about the kind of person Coach Meacham is and how well he fits our staff. We haven’t talked to anybody who doesn’t think the world of him as a person and coach.

Hopefully Meacham can help energize a TCU offense that averaged only 25.1 points and 344.8 yards per game this past season.
