There is nothing better than when the world of sports and the world (/galaxy/universe) of Star Wars intersect. That’s a fact. And in the spirit of combining mankind’s two most wonderful creations, the U.S. National Team Development Program will have the U.S. junior hockey squad rock these amazing uniforms against the Waterloo Blackhawks on January 14.

The NTDP website has the details about Star Wars Night:

Highlighting the event will be a ceremonial puck-drop featuring characters from Star Wars and U.S. players will debut a game jersey featuring Darth Vader, one of the most iconic movie characters of all time. The jerseys, created by Darrin Brege in cooperation with Lucasfilm Limited, LLC, will be auctioned off online here. Bidding will commence on Monday, Jan. 28, and end on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9 p.m. EST. Proceeds will benefit C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Wait, so not only will there be a night devoted to the glory that is Star Wars, but the whole event is for a good cause to boot? A+ to you, NTDP. May the Force be with you.
