UConn HC Bob Diaco plans to offer DC job to Notre Dame DLine Coach, according to report

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are running low on assistant coaches.  They have lost their offensive coordinator, Chuck Martin to Miami (OH), their defensive coordinatorBob Diaco, to Connecticut and now there is a report that Diaco will offer the defensive coordinator job to Notre Dame’s defensive line coach, Mike Elston.

If this holds true and Elston accepts the job, the Irish are looking to fill three posts within their staff.  It is certainly possible some of those positions could be filled from within, but Brian Kelly is likely looking around at various places ready to poach qualified assistants and get them to South Bend.

In addition to the prestige that comes from coaching at Notre Dame, the fact that Kelly has had so many coaches under him get head coaching jobs will certainly make his staff an attractive one for potential coaches to apply to get.  In addition to Diaco and Martin, Butch Jones was a disciple under Kelly, who was able to take the head coaching job at Cincinnati and has since become the head coach at Tennessee.
