Less than 24 hours after announcing a new eight-fight deal with the UFC, Diego Sanchez has been scheduled to face off against Myles Jury at UFC 171 on March 15 in Dallas. Sanchez was hoping to fight at the Dallas event, so he gets his wish coming off of a Fight of the Year candidate against Gilbert Melendez.
UFC officials confirmed the bout on Thursday morning.
While Sanchez (24-6) is looking to bounce back after his loss to Melendez, Jury (13-0) is looking to keep his unbeaten streak alive.
Jury has been able to defeat Mike Ricci, Ramsey Nijem, Michael Johnson and Chris Saunders in his four previous octagon appearances, but there is no doubt that the upcoming bout against Sanchez is set to be his toughest and most important to date.
UFC 171 will be held at the American Airlines Center and is set to be headlined by a UFC light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.
With the addition of Sanchez vs. Jury, here is a look at the updated UFC 171 fight card:
- Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira for UFC light heavyweight title
- Hector Lombard vs. Jake Shields
- Diego Sanchez vs. Myles Jury
- Ovince St. Preux vs. Thiago Silva
- Robert McDaniel vs. Tor Troeng
