ATLANTA– What a scene it was in Philips Arena, as Al Horford and the Atlanta Hawks squeaked by the Wizards with an overtime win. Horford was a monster, as he had 34 points and 15 rebounds, and he had the biggest shot of the night.
Pero Antic inbounded the ball across the court to Horford with a little over a second to go, and Horford grabbed it and threw it up. It went in at the buzzer, and the Hawks won 101-99. Overall, this was an ugly game, and John Wall was disappointing for three and a half quarters. Washington rode a 16-2 run late to take the lead, John Wall missed a shot at the end of regulation that would have won it.
The Hawks are now 12-11 on the season, and it’s time they start getting some attention. They are third in the East, and their system sets them up for success. As a guy who covers this team, I can tell you that they play a fun brand of basketball. The team was in high spirits after the game in the locker room, and this could spark a run.
