Beyonce pulled off one of the biggest surprises in the music industry last night when she secretly released an album. In our society, we constantly have albums leaking before they hit stores. Somehow, Beyonce managed to keep the album release a secret and eventually released it without anyone knowing it over night.

It includes 14 tracks and 17 music videos and is described as a “visual album” and the set is self titled.

“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it. I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans,” Beyonce said in the album’s announcement on Thursday, via the Los Angeles Times.

“I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out,” she added. “I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

Right now the album is available for download only in the iTunes store for the price of $15.99. There are plans to release the CD/DVD set, and manufacturing of the physical albums begins Thursday and will he available before the holidays according to her label. For now you can download it here.
