Boston Red Sox and David Ortiz discussing contract extension

There’s no question that David Ortiz is the greatest designated hitter this league has ever seen.

The man has 333 career home runs while manning the designated hitters slot in the batting order and will continue to pad those numbers over the next couple of years.

With that being said, the Boston Red Sox and David Ortiz are talking about adding an additional season to his contract. That’s right, a contract extension for Big Papi.

I mean, the man deserves an additional year that brings in a little bit more money, so just throw whatever he wants in his direction. Unless it’s some ridiculous amount for one year.

Whatever they do add on, it couldn’t reach more than the $15 million he’s going to get just for the 2014 season. The greatest designated hitter of all time is now 38 and will end up with the Red Sox for the remainder of his career.
