Jacoby Ellsbury thanks Boston fans with full-page ad

Jacoby Ellsbury was official introduced as a member of the New York Yankees in a press conference on Friday morning, but the star center fielder had one more nice gesture for the Boston Red Sox fans who supported him since his rookie season in 2007. Ellsbury took out a full-page ad in Friday’s Boston Globe to thank Red Sox Nation for all the wonderful memories.

Awww, my eyes are gettin’ all misty.

Ellsbury also did a bit of reminiscing during his introductory press conference:

It was seven great years. The fans treated me great, the guys in the clubhouse… those are relationships that I’ll have for the rest of my life, regardless of what uniform I’m in or what uniform they’re in. And then the two world championships: I started my career with a world championship, ended my tenure there with a championship, so unbelievable first part of my career.

You’re a class act, Ellsbury. Best of luck in New York.
